We recently have seen a lot of data posted about underserved and rural areas lacking a high-quality, fiber optic network. The Covid-19 pandemic has really brought to light the divide between internet service in urban vs. rural areas. The following report from the Institute for Local Self-Reliance (ILSR), Cooperatives Fiberize Rural America: A Trusted Model for the Internet Era, by H. Trostle, Katie Kienbaum, Michelle Andrews, Ny Ony Razafindrabe, and Christopher Mitchell, highlights the important role electrical cooperatives will play in altering that situation. The good news is that with changes in state legislation and the increase in funding for Federal and state grants and loans, broadband network deployment will be accelerated.
Wolf Line Construction, as an ADSS installation contractor, is proud to be a part of helping bridge this digital divide. Much of our experience centers around partnering with electric cooperatives and bringing fiber-to-the-home.
